Some people don't know that there is a proper way and an improper way to burn a candle to maximize the scent and make it longlasting. Below is the proper candle burning instructions.
Burn a pillar candle in a proper candle holder, one that was made for candles only! NEVER burn a candle near a draft. This could cause your candle to burn uneven across the top.
Burn a container candle for approximately 3-4 hours before extinguishing the wick. This allows a "meltpool" to form. The hot meltpool is what gives off the scent. Once you get a pool of liquified wax on the top, the scent will be released by the wick flame. So don't expect too much scent until this pool forms across the top, about 2-3 hours depending on the width of the container, may take longer if you have a very wide container. This also allows the wax to melt evenly across and down the jar with no side residue. Always keep wick trimmed to 1/4" and centered. A long wick will cause your candle to smoke and leave soot.
Stop burning candle when only 3/4" of wax is left. DO NOT BURN all the way to the bottom, this could cause the jar to crack and break open, spilling the melted wax!
Store candles in a cool, dry area out of direct sunlight. Direct sunlight will cause the candle's color to fade, fast.
NEVER leave a burning candle unattended.
ALWAYS keep burning candles out of reach of children.
Votive candles should always be burned in a votive holder. This will greatly increase the burn time of a votive candle.
