I learned the hard way as to how to take better pictures. It took me a year to figure out what is important and what is just marketing to sell there stuff and its no use.
What do you need in order to get good pictures
What kind of light is important
Basic steps in order to get good jewelry and other item picture is day light but it doesn't mean that you take it in day light outside your house.Daylight means taking pictures inside the shaded area but without the flashes and tungsten light. You save energy and you get better pictures.
Keep gold on white and silver on black so both don't get difuse into each other. Buy a softbox or tent box to take the picture inside it but if you don't want to buy then thats fine. Take a see through fabric on top of the camera and the item so day light goes through it and then take the picture. The image will be clear and the background will gee awesome.
Use photoshop to edit your item to give xtra finishing touch to it.
