Many of the sellers are listing the programs many of us have received in the mail free that looks like what you buy in the store but it only permits you to view the programs but thenyou must enter your credit card number before you can use it.
I have ask questions of about 10 of these. Several have said they were unaware of what it was until they examined it closer or checked it out and were cancelling the listing but others just quoted selected statements from the box or inserts trying to make it sound like it was a useable program without paying for it. These include:
"the same as the tax software purchased in stores..." but do not mention "it costs just $39.95 to use this software and you will need a credit card to get started."
"Everything you need to prepare your taxes is on this CD but fail to mention Just $39.95! Install now."
" Additional fees apply to e-file" but fail to tell you what the original fee is. Of course some of the promotional disks contain the E-file option but those want $69.96 from your credit card before you use it."
"Item is brand new, still in factory sealed package", that the way the promotional software that requires a downloading fee gees.
If it was downloaded before it may not be usable on another geputer.
