Brush Rotation Problem - Hoover SteamVac Dual V / V2 Carpet Shampooers / Steamers
If you are having problems with the brushes not rotating on your Hoover SteamVac Dual V carpet shampooer, the problem could be one several different things but the most gemon is a seized turbine.
Typical Models: F7205-900, F7220-900, F7225-900, F7226-900, F7425-900, F7431-900, F7440-900. All Dual V / V2 models and all Dual V / V2 Widepath models. F7xxx-xxx series.
Before looking to the turbine there are several other minor things to check.
Verify that the brush control switch is in the on position. (Left side of hood, near front)
Check the turbine filter. Bottom of the machine in a red or white frame.
Remove the brush block and verify that the drive shaft is intact. (Long shaft center brush)
Make sure carpet fiber or other debris has not jammed the brush block.
If all of the above look ok, the problem is almost certainly the brush turbine. The internal parts are metal and normal moisture can cause these parts to rust, corrode and finally seize up. This happens most often when the machine is not used for an extended period of time.
The turbine is not difficult to replace and I stock genuine Hoover replacements for both the Dual V andDual V WidePath. Included with each turbine are detailed instructions for replacing the assembly. It's not difficult and in most cases can be gepleted in under 30 minutes. The only tools you will need is a regular and philips screwdriver. I hope this guide has been some help to you if you are having this brush rotation problem.
