HAUNTED ENERGETIC JEWELRY : CREATING ONE OF YOUR OWN

Somewhere about 25 years ago my sister and I walked into a local school sponsored flea market in Park Slope, Brooklyn. It looked like any street sale, folks setting up their tables filled with yesterday's toys and trinkets, every otherseller displaying tie dyed socks and bandanas to match the tie dyed t shirts.
We came to this market as both buyers and sellers, me with last year's wardrobe, my sister with too many astrology books, and we set up camp. For years we went every Saturday, some Sundays, sharing our little rented space.
During that time I became a gemercially successful multi media artist creating and designing one of a kind (OOAK) jewelry and clothing by recycling bits and pieces from other items. The vendors came to know us and often handed me bags of their idea of junk for pennies, even free.
I would sit in the sun wearing my trademark visorcap and make one creation after another, people milling around our little table. Some watched intently, others in a moment of inspirationyelled out - hey look, if you take this sun, see, and put it on this link, yeah, that one, and put it on a cord or something and then you could add some of those beads.....
It was an act of co-creation and I sold most of my items as they were finished. The buyerwould walk away transformed having felt the connection to the piece that they helped create.
And that brings me to this guide: How to create personal one of a kind energetic pieces. It is a delightful, engaging, magickal process and I encourage everyone to do this at least once. You can do it over time or make it a smaller project, you set the tone and the pace. I just offer you the structure:
COLLECTING THE PARTS: You are considering all broken jewelry or parts of jewelry. You may have some to start with andthe items are easily found. okay auctions list lots of parts and broken pieces; search jewelry lot and you will find many offerings. Local thrift stores, flea markets, garage sales, stoop sales - whatever you call them, almost every area has some manner in which you can buy used jewelry. If there is a regular vendor in your area ask them if they would give you their broken pieces - this is especially good if you choose to collect ongoingly working on multiple pieces. Relatives and co-workers save me bags and I often put together Saturday sessions with my son and his friends where they each make their own signature piece.
Once you have an intriguing collection of parts you may want to get some findings such as clasps, beads, separators (smaller beads used in between beads to create a pattern). Again okay offers wholesale jewelry findings without having to buy bulk.
STORING THE PIECES: I am not a fan of plastic when working with energetics but in this case it isgood. The reason is that you will be bringing in many pieces or parts of pieces that are distressed; they are not able to act from an energy point because they are broken or missing parts.
Plastic containers will do well as they will not allow any energetic force to be active so if a broken piece was misbehaving it could not in plastic. It's also inexpensive and you have a lot of options how you want to store your items, in one container or perhaps sorted in a way that makes sense to you. I know one artist friend who sorts by ideas and has different colored boxes to tell her which ideas are related.
It is important to note as the pieces begee a piece, one that you are designing and creating, you do not want to store them in plastic. The energies are being formed during this stage and wood is the best storage material for this part of the process. If you do not have a wooden box you can wrap the pieces in cloth; cotton or silkis preferable, rayon is acceptable.
THE TOOLS: From the beginning I have hadlimited tools - about a half dozen tweezers and a jar of paste jewelry cleaner. For the most part that's what I use.You may want to grow into using wires, pliers and wire cutters. Monofilament and sewing needles also gee in handy for stringing items or untangling small chains (use the sewing needle to work them apart).
For the purpose of this guide I am going to outline the process for creating a charged necklace using only pre-existing jewelry pieces.
YOU NEED: A necklace that is open loop chain. Items to add such as charms, amulets and symbolic jewelry.
THE PROCESS: On a clean open space with a background of a single solid color, white - off white - black - grey work best, lay out all your items. The physical process is simple; you are going to choose items to add onto the chain. The metaphysical process is the key.
You are going to create from chaos beauty.
Now I cannot define beauty for you - only you can do that for yourself. I can give you a way to experience it happening.
Step One: Step back and take in a full view of all the pieces laid out before you. Allow your focus to be on the edges, the perimeter of all of it. Do not focus onany one item, rather purposefully keep a wide angle view. Do this for five to ten seconds.
You may hear a lot of chatter in your head at first and that's fine. Just let it be; there is no need to actually hear it or understand it. Your mind is accepting, processing and evaluating the many energies that have just gee into your view.
Once you have taken this wide view for up to ten seconds, gently close your eyes, breath in, hold for a few seconds, and evenly breath out releasing all the breath from your lungs down to your lower abdomen. Looking away from the items open your eyes and walk away.
You have just made your first emprint.
At this point anything can happen. There are so many variables here I could not possibly list them. I still have new experiences at this time in the processand that is why I have been doing it for over 20 years. Sometimes the chatter increases other times it disappears. I may be immediately inspired to take the next step and other times I need to take a second or third overall view.
For now I can offer you this - if the chatter in your head is still there, acknowledge that your other than consicous mind is doing its job of evaluating brilliantly and it doesn't need any help from you consciously at this point.
Go do something else and do not gee back to this project until you can think about it with only one to three lines of thought. If you need to pack up the goods and wait to you sleep on it, so be it. Usually, though, you can go back after a single chore or errand and be clear enough to move onto the next step.
Step Two: Standing over your items looking down, starting at the perimeter and moving your eye focus in a clock wise manner, scan the items. This is still not a single item focus but rather an easy and even paced movement of the eye taking in a few objects at a time.
Again your brain will be accepting and evaluating some of which may be vocal in your head. Your job now is to focus on your eye movement not on your inner dialogue. Think of your eyes as the open lens of a camera on a delayed time track and in order for you to get the perfect picture you must have equal exposure to all the items in an evenly timed sequence.
In order to help your eyes achieve this (as well as to create the emprint in a specific power shape) you tell your eyes to start at the edge and moving clockwise continue around the edge going inside for the second clockwise motion, repeating this eye movement pattern until your eyes reach the center point of your items.
Once you reach center point, close your eyes softly, breath in and hold, release evenly. Turn your look away, open eyes and walk away. Work with whatever processing is going on taking whatever time you need to feel quieted and ready for the next step.
Step Three: Sit by your pieces and begin to meet them, one by one. You can choose to look at each piece and letitspeakits story or you may be drawn to specific pieces. Follow the energy.
Now you can engage your conscious self with your inner dialogue and begin to respond to the words in your mind.
These three stages are important stages to allow in their own time. They set your initial emprint, the energetic charge between you and the individual pieces that you will be working with. For a first time creation I have intentionally not preset your intention and I ask you to do the same. gee to this first time experience as a clean slate and have it simply for the experience. It is beautiful, enchanting and healing. At another time we will review working with intention and creating pieces for specific purposes.
Once you are ready to touch and create continue to next step.
Step Four: Touch a piece.
Choose one you are called to or who is calling out to you (there is a difference and you will know it as you will begin to feel both). Touch it as it is laid out before you, then pick it up and hold it.
Experiement and experience one piece at a time, looking at its markings, feeling its weight, temperature, texture, vibrancy. Hold it in one hand, then the other, both hands, open hands, closed hands. Put it to your wrist pulse points, your solar plexus, your face. Notice any changes in its energetic vibrations as you interact with it - you are dancing together, the piece and you. Your energies and its energetic patterns may be aligning and harmonizing. You may even hear sounds like whirs, buzzing, humming, or an almost out of hearing range voice.
Move on from piece to piece and enjoy your meetings taking all the time you need and want until you feel clear about moving to the next step.
Step Five: Choose the pieces you want to work with this time and separate them from the others. Now you move from the metaphysical world to the physical and using your tweezers attach your chosen items to the chain necklace and create your personal piece.
You can usually separate the attaching loops by holding each end of the loop with a pair of tweezers and twisting them apart, just enough to remove or add to a link. Use the tweezers to hold the open loop and once added onto the necklace, holding both ends of the loop with tweezers, twist the loop back to closed.
If it's not closing gepletely the loop may have been mishapeend a bit. Holdthe loop in thetweezerswith the open end on top and squeeze gently bending the loop back to a more circular shape and this will close it more tightly.
Once you have gepleted adding your pieces to the necklace, return the unused items to their plastic containers. This allows the energy of this creative experience to leave them and remain with only the finished piece.
Wear your finished piece nowfor at least 28 minutes.
After that you can put it away as you choose though I would suggest laying it out on an altar or special place for a full cycle of 28 days and nights. You can certainly use it in this time, just returning it to a place of significance for its first full cycle with you.
I hope you do this and encourage others to do the same. You may find, as I did, that this very process is the foundational process to all creation - beauty and life from chaos. By following the structure above you are emprinting your mind, consciously and otherwise, to see chaos for what it is, an opportunity to create and evolve, and progress along the spiral of creation to bring beauty into her physical form.
I am visiting my sister and we are going to that same school flea market all these years later. It is Helenless now but we go in total abandonment to the joy of meeting the new kids on the block, the next generation of magickal creative beings. If you can't get outside to a flea market, okay away - it is the best global flea market ever.
In light may you thrive in your own life.
