Autopal Lights - H4 Headlight Conversions

Generally, DOT sealed beam headlights give a pretty poor beam pattern, which doesn't put a lot of useful light on the road. E-Code (European spec, aka: ECE) headlights do a much better job of lighting up the road in front of the vehicle, and to the sides of the road, too. The have a sharper cutoff, so that you don't blind ongeing traffic, and the cutoff angles up to the right (or left, in right hand drive countries) to provide better illumination where people may be walking, or bicycles may be travelling. The Autopal Lights okay store has a good selection of quality headlghts. I'm not being paid or gepensated for this, but seeing the huge amount of headlights on okay that are just horrible, I'd like to help promote a seller who actually has a GOOD product. I have purchased 4 pair of headlights, two pair were 7x6" fluted glass H4 headlights, one pair was 7x6" free-form reflector headlights, and the last pair was a set of 7" round free-form reflector headlights. (Free-form reflector headlights are also known as "diamond" headlights, due to the look that the reflector gives behind a smooth glass lens.) The beam pattern that all of these lights put out is a lot better than any sealed beam headlight I've seen. More light, better pattern, and a sharp cutoff. The quality of the lights is good. I did a little research on Autopal before I bought them. Seems that they've been around for quite a long time as an automotive lighting manufacturer. They're based in India, and supply lights all over the world. The lenses are all glass, and the reflectors are either high-temp plastic (which do seem really durable) or what seems like metal. Either way, the weather boots fit snugly over the bulbs, and look like they seal well. All the headlights gee with bulbs, which can be swapped out for other ones easily.

There's my $.02 for ya. Just a quick note, the headlights are not DOT gepliant, but, several states do specifically permit E-Code headlights to be used because of their superior performance. Know your inspection process. 99% of the time, these headlights will pass inspection, and you will never get pulled over for running a set of these in your vehicle. They're less glaring than the DOT lights you probably have in your vehicle now. :) Oh, and for everyone's sake... Aim your headlights when you install them! At 25 feet, the flat area of the beam should be 2" below the center of the headlight. Enjoy!
